Seeds of Hope
Although the board members of the “See Ya Later” Foundation knew from the beginning that supporting families would be one of their areas of service, it wasn’t until 2008 that this final branch, called Seeds of Hope, was born.
After the completion of Scotty’s Playhouse in the fall of 2007, the Foundation wondered how this wonderful indoor play-structure could be used to bless families who were struggling with medical crises. At a board retreat on the Oregon coast, the puzzle pieces came together. They decided to seek out families who had either a parent or a child coping with an illness of some type and invite them to spend two hours at Scotty’s Playhouse with all of their friends and family. The plan would be to give families a time to watch their children run and play, visit with each other, laugh, eat pizza and cake, and most importantly forget their struggles for a couple hours.
Before each Seeds of Hope party, members take time to get to know each family and determine the best way to meet their needs. While families are at the Playhouse, a member of the Foundation presents the family with a personalized basket filled with treats, vouchers and gift cards. Some of the needs that have been met so far have been groceries, restaurant gift certificates, yard landscaping, bunk beds, bikes, bedding, new tires, help with electric wiring, and much, much, more. Besides the basket the families are given at the Playhouse, each family is also given other surprise blessings.

Because of some medical conditions, some families are unable to come to Scotty’s Playhouse for a party. The Foundation still finds ways to bless and encourage these families as well.
Each December, the annual Seeds of Hope Christmas Party is held. Special guests include all of the Seeds of Hope families of the past year and of course Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. After a delicious dinner buffet and playtime at Scotty’s Playhouse, each child (and siblings too!) receives a specially chosen gift. In addition, there are many other fun surprises throughout the evening. Many wonderful volunteers help to make this magical evening possible!
One of the most important aspects of the Seeds of Hope outreach is that all of these gifts are given to the families with no strings attached! The goal of the “See Ya Later” Foundation is to hold a Seeds of Hope party for one family a month, and host each family for the Christmas Party. However, the “See Ya Later” Foundation and our Seeds of Hope families continue to be blessed by ongoing relationships throughout the entire year.
There are a variety of ways an individual or corporation can help the “See Ya Later” Foundation help those in need. Become a Hope Giver today, and make a difference in a family’s life tomorrow – and beyond. Click here for more information on the Hope Giver program.
